Denon has released the DCD-1700NE, a CD and SACD player with high-resolution audio capabilities. CDs are reportedly making a comeback, with the Recording Industry Association of America reporting an increase in shipments for the first time in 17 years. The DCD-1700NE can play a variety of discs, including SACDs and DVD-Rs/RWs, and can handle playback of up to 192kHz/24-bit PCM and 5.6MHz DSD. Denon claims that the player is designed to minimize vibration and maximize audio quality with its Advanced AL32 Processing Plus and proprietary S.V.H class disc drive. The DCD-1700NE is available now for $1499 and is meant to be paired with Denon’s PMA-1700NE amplifier.
