TEAC Unveils the AP-507 Stereo Power Amplifier

frank Amplifier

Following the acclaimed launch of the UD-507 Headphone Amplifier/DAC and the HA-507 Fully Balanced/Dual Monaural Headphone Amplifier and Preamplifier last August, TEAC is set to further enrich its new generation "Reference 500 Series." The company has announced the upcoming release of the AP-507 Stereo Power Amplifier in Japan on February 22nd. Priced at approximately ¥308,000 Japanese Yen, the AP-507 will be available in both black and silver finishes.

TEAC AP-507

The TEAC AP-507 is engineered to deliver robust driving power and broad speaker compatibility. It can function as a standalone stereo power amplifier, or be configured in "Bi-Amp Mode" or "High-Power BTL Mode" to unleash up to 350W into 8 ohms, providing exceptional driving capability for demanding loudspeakers.

At its heart, the AP-507 employs a massive toroidal core transformer and an optimized buffer amplifier power supply. A dual-monaural power rectifier design ensures independent power delivery to the left and right channels, maximizing channel separation and eliminating inter-channel crosstalk. Each channel is equipped with substantial 18,800 μF capacitors, providing a rich sense of energy, wide dynamic range, and pristine sonic clarity. Furthermore, the AP-507 utilizes Schottky barrier diodes to suppress rectifier noise, ensuring a cleaner and more stable power supply. This meticulous power design guarantees the highest fidelity from signal input and amplification to the final output stage.

Beyond its exceptional audio performance, the AP-507's compact dimensions and versatile functionality make it an ideal upgrade for AV surround sound systems. Users can seamlessly integrate the AP-507 into their existing setups, utilizing AV preamplifiers or receivers with trigger output capabilities to simultaneously power on or off single or multiple AP-507 amplifiers.

The AP-507 is equipped with TEAC's custom-tuned, next-generation "NCOREx®" power amplifier modules, manufactured by Hypex in the Netherlands. This advanced "x" version of NCORE technology elevates the listening experience, creating a more palpable sense of presence and a more three-dimensional soundstage, while expanding the perceived spatial dimensions of the audio.

Complementing the NCOREx modules, TEAC's in-house development team has designed a dedicated dual-monaural buffer amplifier. Through meticulous selection of components and painstaking circuit design, they have achieved a level of sonic purity that is both highly detailed and richly musical, establishing a new benchmark for high-fidelity audio reproduction.

Aesthetically, the AP-507 boasts a rigid metal chassis construction, featuring a 2.8mm thick, semi-floating aluminum top panel and TEAC's patented Stress-Less Isolation Feet with a three-point support system. This sophisticated design effectively minimizes vibrations, contributing to a more natural and expansive sound.

Adding a touch of visual elegance, the AP-507 features dual VU meters with four levels of adjustable brightness (Bright, Medium, Dim, and Off), allowing users to customize the display to suit their environment. For those seeking enhanced visual dynamics, a +20 dB sensitivity boost can be applied to make the meter movements more animated, or the VU meter display can be completely turned off as desired.
